There are more than 40 instantly recognizable professional pugilists on the Round 4 roster, and that number is growing thanks to users who are taking the time to create them as custom fighters and share them online.  Evander Holyfield, Danny Williams, and Floyd Mayweather are just a few of the fighters who have been brilliantly re-created using photos uploaded to the EA Sports  Web site, along with all manner of celebrities.

Almost nothing about the fighters’ movements feels scripted.

When you flick or rotate the right analog stick to throw a punch,  any number of things can happen. Your punch might catch your opponent off guard and stun him temporarily or  it might glance off the side of his head, doing very little damage.

Your arm might become entangled with your opponent as he tries to throw a punch.You might miss completely and leave yourself open.

If your opponent manages to perfectly time a block or dodge a punch, the action will slow down for a moment as he’s given the opportunity to land a powerful counterattack.

You have to place as much importance on defense as you do on offense.

In Legacy mode, your chosen fighter starts out as a “bum” at the bottom of his  weight class. Your goal, of course, is to work your way up to number one and claim the title belt. 50 fighters in a weight class.

After winning your chosen division and earning the rank of champion, you’re  halfway to achieving your full potential.

In addition to defending your title, there are other belts in other weight classes up for grabs.

Maintain a win percentage of over 95 percent across dozens of fights, defend a title successfully as many as eight times, and hold  three championship belts simultaneously and you could retire as a Hall of Famer, a ring legend, or the greatest of all time.

Online fights  pit you against opponents who can fight just as unrealistically as you can  and because the fights  rarely suffer from noticeable lag, it’s here that  Round 4 really makes it’s mark.

Fight Night Round 4’s greatest strength is that while it’s accessible and relatively easy, it can also be challenging and rewarding.

In addition to one-off fights, which can include licensed fighters as well as custom creations, Round 4 features an Online World Championship mode that ranks you against every other player in the world on weight-specific leaderboards.

The fighters, the audiences, and the arenas that they’re packed into all look great, and the slow-motion replays of knockout punches are superb.

The real star of the show is the audio. Punches sound satisfying, crowds shout specific chants,  corner men can be heard yelling instructions and the  commentary is great. The guys on the mics not only call the fight accurately, but also offer anecdotes and analogies with a  good amount of boxer  knowledge. In Legacy mode, they also refer to your custom fighter’s career record.

Stepping into Fight Night Round 4’s ring is definitely recommended.

The Overlord  fights  in combat with various weapons and armor types that gradually become available,  also  the ability to cast spells to either help minions or hinder opponents.

The impish minions of the Overlord can operate machinery, wear disguises, sail the open seas, ride mounts, and get possessed by their evil master.

Each minion  has their own strengths and weaknesses; brown minions being melee fighters, reds throw fiery projectiles and are immune to fire, greens attack from behind and are immune to poison and blues can heal other minions and can also swim, along with a new ability to pass  enemies while  in disguise.  Initially only the brown minions are available.

You’ll be well into the game before you find all four types of minions

Minions can now also operate siege weapons, ships/boats and other war machines and once captured can mount and ride wild wolves(Browns) , giant spiders(Greens) and giant salamanders(Reds) to help in combat.

The Overlord also has the ability to occasionally take direct control over the current strongest minion to lead the rest through the use of the “Possession Stone”.

The Overlord and his minions reside in a dark tower in a dimension known as the “Netherworld”,  where the Overlord builds up his minion forces by harvesting life-force  from fallen creatures that when gathered can be brought back into the real world as  minions  by summoning them through Minion Gates scattered across the landscape and the Overlord himself in the less common Netherworld Gates.

Overlord II does allow you to manually move the view. But strangely, it assigns this to the right stick on the controller, which means you have  to do two important jobs–move the camera and sweep the minions. It gets  mixed up too often, and you’ll find yourself inadvertently moving your minions when you want to shift your view.

The choice system returns once more in Overlord II, where at certain points during quests that can be taken providing two paths; the Destruction Overlord that focuses on destroying towns and killing all in in his path and the Domination Overlord that rather focuses on enslaving defeated foes or neutral parties to worship and work for him.

The choice themselves not only affect the story and interactive with NPC’s, but can alter the look of the Overlord and allow certain powers to become available. Other choices such as choosing a mistress now allow the Overlord to have multiple wives

The minimap only shows one view, and it’s a fairly close-up view of your surrounds. So while it does have markers to show your next objective or checkpoint, it’s still quite difficult to know which way to go,  given the many twisting paths.

Overlord II has a lengthy single-player campaign that will span more than 20 hours (including most of the side quests). The game also has two-player competitive and cooperative modes, which you can take both offline and online, although these aren’t as deep and fully featured as many modern multiplayer offerings. There are only four modes in total, with each of the modes being played on its own individual map.

You would  probably get arrested if you try to club a baby seal in real life.

According to Lennart Sas, director and Overlord lead at Triumph Studios, the intention for Overlord II was to “massively increase the scope of the original concept”.

If you’re chosen as “The One”, your goal is to eliminate all the opposition by correctly answering questions, hoping that the opponents will slip up and be eliminated from the game.

Western feel , action-packed shoot-outs. large-scale set pieces  and intimate one-on-one gun duels.  The game plot is set in the American Civil War period and presents adventures of two brothers across different parts of North America.

Brothers  Ray and Thomas McCall.

Fighting in the Civil War as Confederate soldiers. You  begin as Ray holding the line against Union soldiers.

Before each mission you can choose between one of the two brothers. At first the game just moves from mission to mission. There will be an open Free World where you can take side-missions as a bounty hunter, Hired Gun for either attack or defence, and other side quests.

The available weapons for the many Bound in Blood shoot-outs are fairly limited compared to other shooters, although given the time period, that’s hardly surprising.

The large set pieces happen with good regularity and include using a cannon, blowing up a Union paddle steamer, riding a raft through rapids while being pursued by angry Native Americans, using a cart-mounted Gatling gun to mow down enemies on horseback, and even fighting your way out of an ancient underground temple as it gets buried in sand. You’ll also get plenty of time on horseback.

In each Free World area there is a small town, a Trader who will sell you certain weapons available at different qualities  and out in the wilderness you will find ruined buildings, farms, camps and bandits that can be hold up there. Bandits will also hide at certain road points to ambush people, you will see them robbing/attacking people on the roads and robbing caravans and it is your choice ; to save or not to save  the people.

One-on-one affairs act as boss fights, pitting you against an especially powerful enemy in an old-fashioned quick-draw fight to the death. The camera shifts down to a cinematic view low behind the player for these duels. You’ll have to match your opponent’s left and right steps to keep him in the centre of the screen, while keeping your hand close to your pistol. Duel controls are quite precise, and you’ll never feel like they’re preventing you from winning a quick draw. It’s heart-in-the-mouth stuff most of the time, and you’ll probably die plenty of times before you get the timing of a draw right.

Hard difficulty straight off  makes your enemies more accurate and able to deal more damage (and there’s the unlockable very hard difficulty to try after that). Even on hard, the game can be quite forgiving, thanks to Bound in Blood’s generous checkpoint system and some unsophisticated enemy AI, which sees many of your foes simply standing in the open and not using any flanking or support strategies.

Ray or Thomas (depending on whom you’re controlling at the time) are great companions, able to hold their own against most foes and generally lending strong support throughout the entire campaign.

Most  classes are initially locked, and you’ll have to earn money through participating in ranked matches in order to buy them. The modes include standard Deathmatch and team-based VIP modes.

The most fun mode is Wild West Legends, which requires a team to complete a set of objectives across a map. Most of these involve blowing stuff up, and it’s the opposing team’s job to stop that from happening. There are eight scenarios mimicking famous real-life events (such as the gunfight at the O.K. Corral), and these matches can be enjoyable affairs where coordination with teammates is vital. Multiplayer, in fact, is quite strong across the board.

At the end of most missions you will have a “Showdown” with the leader of the group you are fighting. In Bounty Hunter missions you need to first defeat the leader in a gunfight before he will challenge you to a final Showdown.

The Wild West looks stunning, and you’ll see a variety of realistic environments, including dilapidated ghost towns, open deserts, lush forests, and dusty Mexican villages. There are some great visual effects at play, too; focusing down your gun’s sights will blur the foreground in favor of what you’re aiming at in an impressive depth-of-field showcase. While the lighting shifts as you move.

This game’s strong narrative and high production values make it an almost cinematic experience.

Ray McCall: The older of the brothers, prefers a close combat style and tasks which require the use of brute force. Of the two, he is also more deadly with dual guns and dynamite^. Ray is also more resistant to damage and stronger of the brothers. This allows him to carry heavy weapons such as a portable Gatling gun, he wears the same Cuirass as he does in Call of Juarez which is why he is so resilient to bullets^. Ray is the only brother featured in the first Call of Juarez as Reverend Ray McCall. He takes the role as an old Gun Slinger turned Preacher (because of William) who is hunting down the man who killed his brother, which he believes to be his Step-Nephew. Ray’s bullet time freezes time to allow you to pick up to 12 targets to shoot, when the bullet time ends Ray quickly unleashes all 12 shots at perfect accuracy.

Thomas McCall: A sharpshooter who chooses a long-range combat style which requires such weapons as rifles, knives and a hunting Bow. He is also the stealthier of the brothers, which allows him to sneak and silently eliminate his opponents (using throwing knives) or the Hunting Bow at long range. Another feature is his ability to use lasso which enables to access otherwise unreachable places.

Thomas’’s bullet time slows down time and allows you to shoot up to 6 enemies at perfect accuracy for one hit kills. He fires the shots from the hip by holding down the trigger and rapidly pulling back the hammer, you must simulate this movement by holding down the fire button and moving the analog/mouse forward and back to simulate the hammer movement. Though there are less possible shots than Ray’s bullet time, Thomas can shoot up to 6 enemies in an 180 degree radius around him at different levels of height.

William McCall: The younger unplayable brother, who at the time is a Reverend. He follows his brothers anywhere because he believes it is his duty to turn them “towards the light”. He often follows his brothers into firefights and must be protected and he is always trying to convince them not to get into trouble.

Juarez: A powerful mexican Bandit leader, named after the town he was born in, is one of the main Antagonists who at first is an ally. The McCaul brothers meet Jaurez when they save Marisa from a group of bandits that take her for a common whore. The McCaul brother’s reason for being in Mexico is to find the Lost Treasure of Cortez, Juarez is also looking for it and he employs the McCaul brothers to help him find the it for a cut. At the time Marisa is his mistress, this is what generates most of the conflict between him and Ray because Ray secretly loves her. Juarez is also the biological father of William “Billy Candle”, the protagonist of Call of Juarez

Marisa: Juarez’s Mistress first met when she is saved by Thomas and Ray from a group of Bandits who take her for a common whore. Ray secrety falls in love with Marisa the moment he sees her and wishes to steal her away from Juarez when their work is finished. Marisa on the other hand is secretly in love with Thomas. Ultimately she ends up with Thomas they marry and she has Juarez’s son, William “Billy Candle” whom Thomas and Marisa look after until the events of Call of Jaurez happen.

Developed by Techland and published by Ubisoft, it is a fantastic so-called prequel to the first game, Call of Juarez.

The two campaigns,  ‘Autobots and Decepticons’ loosely follow the plot of the movie. Each one takes a fair amount of time to complete, and they are different enough that it is worth playing through both, for sure.

Each mission plays out in an open area full of items you can destroy. Pity there was not more.

Bonus challenges and unlockables do a good job of keeping things interesting.

Unlock episodes of the original Transformers cartoon, as well as vintage paint jobs and concept art by accomplishing certain tasks with certain characters.

Transformers  can take  different modes: robot, weapon, and vehicle. In robot mode, you walk around in humanoid form and can jump, climb buildings, and melee attack. Holding the left trigger changes you into weapon mode, allowing you to strafe and blast opponents with your primary and secondary weapons.

Holding the right trigger will transform you into a vehicle, and you’ll immediately start driving or flying, depending on your character.

The advanced jump launches your Transformer out of car form and into a high jump (fliers get  the strategically powerful hover ability). These jumps are great for leaping over low buildings and obstacles, but when you string a few together, you can drive/hop, rooftop to rooftop.

The advanced melee attack really is  satisfying.

Multiplayer has   five different modes. Deathmatch will allow players to choose any character in a free-for-all battle. Team Deathmatch will feature Autobots vs Decepticons. Control Points features gameplay similar to the Star Wars Battlefront series, with teams battling for control of specific areas to gain points One Shall Stand is similar to Team Deathmatch; the difference being that the sole objective is to take out the enemy leader (Optimus Prime or Megatron) while protecting your own.  Battle for the Shards featuring Capture the Flag-style gameplay; teams search for shards of the allspark and return them to their base to earn points.

The modes and maps are pretty standard fare, and they serve as a competent stage for battle. Each Transformer has a unique loadout that includes a primary weapon, secondary weapon, and special attack. In the single-player campaigns, these different abilities provide some welcome variety. In multiplayer, they add a whole new level of strategic depth. Having Long Haul’s combat healing ability can help a Decepticon team stay alive long enough to capture a control point, while a well-timed electromagnetic pulse attack from Bumblebee can give the Autobots a deadly window of opportunity.

Developed by Peter Molyneux at Lionhead studios Milo is an interactive avatar straight out of science fiction. A whole new level of interaction between the user and the console.

Milo is designed as a way for the user to have a genuine emotional attachment to the system. Explicitly; to make you feel like he’s got a mind.

Peter Molyneux  said that the child artificial intelligence for Xbox 360 tech demo ‘Milo and Kate’ is usually “scrubbed” after about 200 hours. The longest Milo has lived is 300 hours. Lionhead’s Project Natal demo Milo may look to be eight, but he’s never lived longer than 12 days. There will be a Milo 2.0.

This is a landmark in computer entertainment.

Mini-games are back with 12 court games, including: Pot Shot, Pirate Wars, Block Buster, Count Mania, Zoo Feeder, and Shopping Dash.

After spending a few hours on the court , you will notice that! as long as you can make contact, you are almost assured of getting the ball in play.

You start as the 100th-ranked amateur in the world and must win tournaments around the globe to earn some credentials. Yawn!

After a plethora of tournaments you eventually reach pro status.

Online world tour mode leaves a lot to be desired.

Experience points have only a mild effect on the action

The mini games with their 8 difficulty levels are bold and fun.

16 of the world’s finest courses, club tuning options and a Tournament Challenge mode in which you can relive memorable achievements alongside pros.

Club Distances this year have been reduced by 40 yards from 09 and your driver will say a maximum possible distance of 325 yards.

You are also able to set “Powercapping” online.

There are also live tournaments that take place alongside real-world events, such as the US Open, and let you compete with pros on the same leaderboard and in similar weather.

There are items of clothing that dramatically improve your attributes, an extremely forgiving default difficulty level, and wacky customization options that include a pink rabbit suit and a biker jacket.

Make a trip to the pro shop and purchase a “max attributes” outfit.

Creating and playing as a custom golfer can be very satisfying.

You have the option to use digital photos uploaded to an EA Web site or your console’s camera to put something vaguely resembling your face into the game; you play a few shots to determine your starting attributes; and, for a few rounds, you really have to play well to keep up with the pros.

Your attributes will improve (or occasionally worsen) after every round based on your performance, and you’re given opportunities to work on aspects of your game by replaying shots from your previous round in simple exercises presented by your in-game coach.

The Weather Channel provides dynamic weather data for the game and the new “Tournament Challenge” mode allows players to replicate famous shots and moments from the PGA Tour’s history.

On the default amateur difficulty, moving the analog stick down and then up to perform a swing determines the power of your shot but has very little impact on its direction.

On pro difficulty, anything other than a perfectly vertical movement of the stick will result in a hook or a slice. If you ramp up the difficulty to the most challenging tour pro setting, you can no longer use power boosts, which you trigger by tapping a button during your swing.

You will be asked after a round whether you want to post your score and if you don’t,  just try again from the 1st hole.

There is a new feature this year called “Play the Pros”. Users online are able to post their scores against the actual real life PGA Leaderboards and to make it even more realistic they can play in Tour Pro mode.

EA Sports will also be delivering 4 round weekly tournaments, the user will be able to choose whether to play all rounds in the same day or play a round but only having 1 go at it.

There is also a 60 second shot clock available in ranked and unranked matchups

GamerNet challenges are another benefit of playing while connected: Any time you play a particularly impressive shot, you have the option to upload it as a challenge for other players to beat during their regular play, and, of course, you can expect to be presented with plenty of them when you’re playing yourself.

For the most part, you’re judged either on the length of your drive or how close you get to the hole with an approach shot.

Drive a ball almost 500 yards just isn’t possible unless you’re maxed out and have the wind at your back.
