The Halo Wars demo has set a new one-day record for most downloads over Xbox Live.
With Halo Wars now gold, Microsoft said it will release a video documentary series to “explore defining themes of Halo Wars and give viewers a behind the scenes look at the game’s development and some of the people involved in its creation.” The videos can be seen on Xbox Live or from your PC at Xbox.com/Halo. ”If half of those who downloaded the demo pick up the game, Halo Wars will be a huge hit”, said one guy. With such interest behind the game, should Microsoft be thinking twice about its closure of Ensemble Studios? While I can’t say anything official. He’se been playing the final version of Halo Wars and we lament. At the very least, Halo Wars and its likely success at retail will make for a very nice addition to the resumes of those who were involved with its development. The future work of the two studios that have risen from the closure of the storied development team, looks good in the crunch.
Microsoft’s Major Nelson (great name) and the Xbox 360 Gamerscore Blog are reporting that the Halo Wars demo is setting records. The demo was released over Xbox Live on February 5th, quickly setting the one-day record for demo downloads on the service, and in the first five days has been downloaded by more than 2 million Xbox Live Gold members around the world.
LONG LIVE GAMING.
